Flashcards come back when you are about to forget them, not when you happen to think of them. A card you find easy leaves you alone for weeks. One you keep missing returns in a day or two.
How review works
Open what is due
The Flashcards page tells you how many cards are due and which decks they are in. Open a deck to start.
Try to remember, then flip
Read the front, answer in your head, then flip the card with a click, Space or Enter.
Grade yourself honestly
Pick how well you knew it. Clamly schedules the next review from your answer.
Grading generously feels good today and costs you next week. Again is not a failure. It is how the scheduler learns which cards need more of your time.
Why FSRS
Clamly schedules cards with FSRS, the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler that modern Anki uses by default. It estimates how strong each memory is from your review history, so intervals fit you rather than a fixed formula.
FSRS replaced the older SM-2 scheduler on 21 September 2026. SM-2 kept no review history that FSRS could learn from, so every card that existed then was reset to new and made due. If a large pile of due cards appeared that week, that is why. Your cards themselves were not changed.

Create a deck on the Flashcards page and add cards with a front and a back.
- One card: select text in a note and choose Make a flashcard. Your selection becomes the back, you write the question for the front, and you pick the deck. The card is due for review straight away. This does not use AI.
- A whole deck: in the note, choose Make flashcards and Clamly AI writes a new deck from the note. This uses 4 AI usage units.
Upload a PDF, Word document or text file in Clamly AI tools and generate a deck from it, between 4 and 40 cards. This uses 4 AI usage units and always creates a new deck. After a quiz, Save as flashcards turns the questions you missed into cards in a deck you choose. The question becomes the front and the correct answer the back.
Choose Import on the Flashcards page and paste one card per line, with the front and back separated by a tab, a comma, or -. That is the format Quizlet’s export gives you. Your stats
The top of the Flashcards page shows four numbers:
- Decks and Cards: how much you have.
- Due: cards ready for review right now.
- Mastered: cards you know well enough that they come back rarely. The retention figure next to the due banner is the share of your cards that are mastered.
Edit and delete
Rename or delete a deck from the deck menu. A deleted deck goes to the Trash for 30 days.
Deleting a single card is immediate, with a few seconds to undo it from the message that appears. Single cards do not go to the Trash.
