You can sign in to Clamly with an email and password, with Google, or both. Your security options live in Settings, under Security.

Reset a forgotten password

  1. On the log in page, choose Forgot password?
  2. Enter your email address. Clamly sends a reset link.
  3. Open the link within 1 hour and choose a new password of at least 8 characters.
If the link has expired, request a new one. The same steps also add a password to an account you created with Google.

Change your password

In Settings, choose Change password. Enter your current password, then the new one twice. It needs at least 8 characters, and it cannot be the same as the old one. Changing your password signs you out on every other device. The device you are using stays signed in.
If you only ever signed in with Google, there is no Change password option, because there is no password to change. Use Forgot password to set one.

Sign in with Google

Choose Continue with Google on the log in or sign-up page. If you have turned on Clamly’s two-factor authentication, Google sign-in asks for your Clamly code too, the same as a password sign-in. Google’s own 2-step verification does not replace it.

Turn on two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step every time you sign in, with a password or with Google. Someone who gets into your password or your Google account still cannot get into Clamly. It is optional, and recommended.
1

Start

In Settings, find two-factor authentication and choose Turn on. Confirm your password. Nothing changes on your account until you finish the next step.
2

Scan the code

Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy. If you cannot scan, enter the key shown under it by hand.
3

Enter the code

Type the 6-digit code from the app and choose Verify and turn on.
4

Save your recovery codes

Clamly shows you a set of recovery codes once. Copy them somewhere safe, like a password manager. Each one gets you in a single time if you lose your phone.
No authenticator app? Choose Email me codes instead on the scan step. Clamly then emails you a sign-in code each time. An authenticator app is safer, because it does not depend on access to your inbox.
Signed up with Google? Two-factor setup needs a password first, because that is what proves it is you before the second step is added. Set a password, then come back.

Signing in with two-factor on

After your password, Clamly asks for a 6-digit code.
  • Authenticator app: type the current code. Codes change every 30 seconds.
  • Emailed code: check your inbox for “123456 is your Clamly sign-in code”. Each code lasts 5 minutes. Send a new code if it expired.
  • Lost your phone? Choose Use a recovery code and enter one of your saved codes exactly as written, including upper and lower case. Each code works once.
Tick Trust this device for 30 days to skip the code on that device for a month. Leave it off on a shared or public computer.

Trusted devices and recovery codes

In the two-factor section of Settings:
  • Trusted devices shows how many devices currently skip the code. Untrust all devices makes every one of them, including the one you are on, ask for a code next time. Use it if you lost a device or signed in somewhere you should not have.
  • Generate new recovery codes replaces your whole set. Codes you saved before stop working.
  • Turn off two-factor with your password. Your recovery codes stop working too.

Locked out

Too many wrong codes trigger protections: Lost your phone and your recovery codes? Email support@clamly.app from your account’s address.
