# Quizzes

> Write a quiz, import one, or let Clamly AI build it. Then play it in three timed modes and see which questions trip you up.

Quizzes are the centre of Clamly. There are three ways to make one, three speeds to play it at, and a results screen that turns what you missed into something to review.

## Make a quiz

    1. Open **Quizzes** and create a new quiz.
    2. Give it a title (up to 200 characters) and, if you like, a description, tags and a class.
    3. Add questions. Each question has between 2 and 6 answer options, and can have more than one correct answer.
    4. Add an explanation to any question (up to 1,000 characters). It shows after you answer, so you learn why, not just what.

    From **Quizzes**, choose **Import** and paste your content. Two formats work:

    * **Term and definition pairs**, one per line, the way Quizlet exports them. Separate term and definition with a tab, a comma, or `-`. Clamly builds a multiple choice question from each pair and draws the wrong answers from the other rows, like a practice test.
    * **A CSV** with the columns `question, correct, wrong1, wrong2, …`

## Play a quiz

Pick a mode before you start. The only difference is how long you get per question.

| Mode | Time per question | Good for |
| - | - | - |
| **Normal** | 45 seconds | Learning the material |
| **Hard** | 25 seconds | Checking you really know it |
| **Hell** | 12 seconds | Making recall automatic before an exam |

While you play:

* Each answer is marked right or wrong straight away, with the explanation if the quiz has one.
* **AI Hint** gives you a nudge without the answer. Each hint uses 1 AI usage unit.
* **Shuffle questions**, on the quiz page, changes the order every time you play. It is on by default.

  Leaving a quiz halfway loses that attempt. Clamly asks before it lets you go.

## After a quiz

The results screen shows your score and every question you missed. From there you can:

* **Get AI Review.** Clamly looks at what you got wrong and explains the pattern. This uses 3 AI usage units.
* **Discuss with AI**, which opens [Clamly Chat](/ai/chat) with your score already in the message.
* **Save as flashcards.** Pick a deck and the missed questions you want. Each card uses the question as the front and the correct answer as the back, and goes straight into [spaced repetition](/study/flashcards).

Every quiz also keeps its own analytics: attempts, average score, and how often each question is answered correctly, so you can see exactly which ones trip you up.

## Share a quiz

Every quiz has one of three visibility settings.

| Visibility | Who can open it |
| - | - |
| **Private** | Only you. This is the default. |
| **Unlisted** | Anyone with the link. It does not appear on Discover. |
| **Public** | Anyone, and it is listed on [Discover](/together/discover). |

You can also share a quiz into a [study group](/together/groups). When someone else plays your quiz, their answers are checked on Clamly's servers, so the answer key never reaches their browser.

## Delete a quiz

Deleting a quiz moves it to the [Trash](/account/trash), where you can restore it for 30 days.
