# Your data

> What Clamly stores, where it is kept, how long for, and how to export it or exercise your rights.

This page explains the essentials in plain words. The [Privacy Policy](https://clamly.app/privacy) is the full and binding version.

## Who looks after your data

Clamly is run by **Clamly SRL**, a company registered in Romania, which is the data controller for your personal data. Because Romania is in the European Union, your data is handled under the GDPR.

**Clamly never sells your data**, and never shares it with anyone for advertising or marketing.

## What Clamly stores

| **What you make** | Quizzes and attempts, flashcards and review history, notes, todos, exams, chats, uploads, groups, focus sessions and achievements |
| **Technical** | Session cookies that keep you signed in, your IP address for security and rate limiting, and basic browser and device details |
| **Only if you allow it** | Product analytics and error reports, through the cookie banner |

If you sign in with Google, Clamly receives your name, email and profile picture, and nothing else unless you also connect Google Calendar.

## Where it is kept

Your account and content live in a database in the **European Union**. Some providers that help run Clamly, for hosting, file storage, AI, payments and email, are in the **United States** or elsewhere outside the EU. Those transfers are covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask which companies they are, and for a copy of the safeguards, at [support@clamly.app](mailto:support@clamly.app).

## How long it is kept

## Export your data

1. Open **Settings**.
2. Under **Your data**, choose **Export your data**.

You get a file named `clamly-data-export-` plus the date, in JSON, a format any program can read. It holds your account and profile, quizzes with their questions, quiz attempts, notes, todos, exams, achievements, focus sessions, flashcard decks with their cards, chat conversations with their messages, your study group memberships, and your study plans.

  The export holds what you made in Clamly, not the original files you uploaded. Keep your own copies of those.

## Your rights

You can ask Clamly to:

* Show you the personal data it holds about you
* Correct anything inaccurate
* Delete your account and data, which you can also [do yourself](/account/delete-account)
* Give you your data in a portable format, which the export above does
* Restrict processing, or stop processing based on legitimate interests
* Withdraw consent for optional features, like Google Calendar sync or analytics cookies

Email [support@clamly.app](mailto:support@clamly.app). You get an answer within one month, and it is free. You can also complain to a data protection authority: the Romanian ANSPDCP, or the one where you live in the EU, EEA or UK.

## Cookies

Essential cookies keep you signed in and remember your settings. They are always on, because Clamly cannot work without them.

Product analytics (PostHog), error reports (Sentry), usage statistics (Vercel Analytics) and the support chat (Intercom) load **only if you opt in**. Change your choice any time with **Cookie preferences** in Settings or **Cookie settings** in the site footer. Clamly uses no advertising cookies.

## Age

You must be at least 16 to use Clamly. If you think a child under 16 has given Clamly personal data, email [support@clamly.app](mailto:support@clamly.app) and it will be deleted.

## Automatic evaluation

Clamly scores your quizzes, schedules your flashcards, works out which quizzes you struggle with, and tracks your streak and focus time. That shapes what Clamly suggests to you, and nothing more. It never makes a decision with a legal or similarly significant effect on you.
