# Clamly Chat

> An AI study assistant that answers in four styles, reads your documents and images, and turns a conversation into a quiz.

Clamly Chat is somewhere to ask why you got something wrong. It knows what you are studying, answers in your language, and can turn what it taught you into a quiz.

Open it from **Clamly AI**, then **AI Chat**.

## Pick how it answers

Four modes change the length and shape of every reply. Your choice stays with the conversation until you change it.

    *Matches your energy.* Casual if you write casually, precise if you write formally. Around 80 to 150 words, then a suggested next step.

    *Step-by-step guide.* A numbered plan of 3 to 5 steps, a mini-goal you can finish in this session, and a question to check you understood.

    *Casual and fun.* Like a friend in the same class. Short and punchy, 40 to 90 words, ending with a nudge to start now.

    *Academic and precise.* Formal paragraphs with correct terminology, ending on one question that makes you think.

## What you can ask for

* **Explanations** of anything you are studying, in the language you write in.
* **Help with a mistake.** After a quiz, **Discuss with AI** opens a chat with your score already filled in.
* **A plan for the week.** The coach knows your upcoming exams and recent scores, so its advice fits you.
* **A quiz from the conversation.** Ask something like *"quiz me on this"* or *"make me a quiz on photosynthesis"*. Clamly creates a real quiz from what you have been talking about. The reply has a **Take quiz** button, plus **Review or edit** to open it in the editor. The quiz is also in **Quizzes**.

## Attach a document or image

Use the attach button next to the message box.

* **Documents** (PDF, Word, text): ask questions about your own notes or slides. For each answer, Clamly searches the whole document and reads the passages that matter most: 4 on Free, 6 on Starter and 8 on Pro.
* **Images** (JPEG, PNG, WEBP or GIF): a photo of a worksheet, a diagram or a whiteboard. iPhone HEIC photos are not accepted, so share them as JPEG.

## What it costs

Every message uses AI usage units, depending on what it asks for.

| An attached document | 1 extra, or up to 4 when a long document is read in full |
| An attached image | 5 extra |
| Asking for a quiz | 5 extra |

If a reply fails, the units for it are given back. See [AI usage and limits](/ai/usage) for how much you have.

## What it will not do

Clamly Chat is for studying. It will not write code, write essays or creative work for you to hand in, role-play as someone else, give relationship advice, or act as a friend or therapist. It will not invent facts about you that it does not have.

  If a message says something about self-harm, hopelessness or abuse, Clamly Chat answers with support and points to real help, such as a crisis helpline. Nothing about that is recorded and no one is alerted. If you are in danger right now, contact your local emergency number.

## Manage conversations

The panel on the left keeps every conversation. Start a **New Chat**, search your past chats by title, or delete one you no longer need. A deleted conversation is removed for good.
