# Delete your account

> What deleting your Clamly account removes, what to do first, and how long it takes.

Deleting your account is permanent. There is no Trash for an account and no way to undo it.

## Before you delete

  <Step title="Know what happens to your subscription">
    On Starter or Pro, deleting your account cancels your subscription immediately, before anything is deleted, so you are never charged again. If the cancellation fails, nothing is deleted and Clamly asks you to try again. You do not get a refund for the rest of the period. If it is near the start of a period, you may prefer to [cancel first](/account/plans-and-billing#cancel-your-subscription) and delete when it ends.

    **Settings**, then **Export your data**, downloads a copy of your quizzes, notes, flashcards, chats and more. See [Export your data](/privacy/your-data#export-your-data).

    Groups you own are deleted with your account, for every member. Let your group know first.

## Delete it

1. Open **Settings** and choose **Delete account**.
2. Type `delete my account` to confirm.
3. Choose **Delete Forever**.

## What is removed

Everything, in one step: your profile, quizzes and attempts, notes, todos, flashcards and their review history, exams, chat conversations, AI study plans, achievements, focus sessions, notifications, uploaded files and their search index, and your study group memberships. Groups you own are deleted too.

Your uploaded files and document search index are held by separate storage providers. Clamly deletes them straight away, retries automatically if a provider fails, and flags anything still outstanding so it is cleared within 30 days.

## What is kept

Invoices and payment records, for as long as accounting and tax law requires. That is longer than the account itself, and it is a legal obligation rather than a choice. Your card details are held by Stripe and never by Clamly.

  Deleted your account and want to come back? You can sign up again with the same email, but you start from an empty account. Nothing from the old one can be recovered.
